California Strawberry Day: Strawberries for Every Course

Support Provided By

It's not a huge surprise that California harvests the most strawberries in the country, so it's only fitting that the state has its very own Strawberry Day on March 21 that the rest of the country should observe with profound awe and respect.

Strawberries are grown from San Diego all the way up to San Francisco -- about 500 miles of producers -- making the season nearly year round from January through September. They're especially plentiful now: for Oxnard-based Harry's Berries, their strawberries peak from April through June (though they will often have berries through the end of summer). So here's your chance to go crazy with this strawberry tasting menu. Just click on the photo captions to link to the recipe.

Additionally, check out where you can pick your own and mark in your calendars the annual California Strawberry Festival in Oxnard in May.
